Assistance Requested: Edmonton Social Planning Council

planning questions

From: Alexa Byrd

My name is Alexa Byrd, and I am a Research Assistant at the Edmonton Social Planning Council (ESPC). I am emailing you because of your work and experience in providing services to Indigenous seniors in the city of Edmonton.

The ESPC has been awarded a contract from Age Friendly Edmonton to complete a research project on social isolation among Indigenous seniors in the City of Edmonton. We are now looking for assistance in recruiting caregivers of Indigenous seniors (55 years of age or older) to participate in an in-person interview. Caregivers can be defined as a family member, a friend, or a paid caregiver who spends a significant amount of time caring for an Indigenous senior.

To this end, we are emailing you to request assistance in recruiting caregivers of Indigenous seniors to determine their challenges, barriers, and opportunities in our city. We are hoping to begin interviews in July, 2018; please let me know if you are aware of any caretakers of Indigenous seniors who may be interested in participating in our study, and potentially contributing to policy change in Edmonton. I will attach a document to this email containing information that you may distribute to interested parties.

If you have any questions or concerns or are interested in participating please feel free to contact me.

Many thanks,

Alexa Byrd | Research Assistant
